New Rugby Motorway Service Area Opens

Wednesday 05 May 2021

PFA Consulting are proud to have been involved in the planning stage of the new Rugby Motorway Service Area which opened to traffic on Friday 30 April 2021.

Working directly for Moto Hospitality as part of a multi-disciplinary team headed up by Roberts Limbrick Architects and project managed by the Millbridge Group, PFA Consulting provided transport and highway consultancy services to support the planning application.

Working alongside planning consultancy Collins and Coward Ltd and other specialists in various disciplines, PFA Consulting engaged with Highways England and Warwickshire County Council to devise the access arrangements including alterations to the existing Junction 1 roundabout. The alterations included forming a concentric circulatory carriageway so that west to south traffic movements avoided the traffic exiting the MSA, signalising the northern part of the roundabout and increasing the width of the off bound slip road.

In accordance with the requirements of the NPPF the proposals were subject to a comprehensive transport assessment and the transport data was used by other disciplines for the environmental impact assessment.
