What's in a Name?!

Thursday 14 October 2021

In August 2021, the government announced that Highways England was to be re-branded as National Highways in order to reflect its role in setting highways standards for the whole of the UK through the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB). However decisions on the building and maintenance of roads outside of England remain the responsibility of the devolved governments of ScotlandWales and Northern Ireland

This is the third name change since the body was established in 1994. However, for the time being the website remains www.highwaysengland.co.uk.
